Ultra-Wideband 3-D Microwave Absorbers With Composite Slotlines and Microstrip Lines: Synthetic Design and Implementation

This article proposes a class of ultra-wideband 3-D microwave absorbers with composite slotlines and microstrip lines from synthetic design to practical implementation. Firstly, the general equivalent transmission line (TL) model proposed absorber element is formed based on two sets shunt short-ended stubs an i-section nonuniform connecting line. Then, procedure theoretically investigated using TL model, aiming construct ultra-wide absorption band Chebyshev equal-ripple response. According prescribed absorptive performance, such as maximum reflection coefficient (C) fractional bandwidth (FBW), relevant parameters can be directly calculated by established synthesis approach. To validate concept, prototypes, namely, absorber-I (i=1) absorber-II (i=2), are designed, fabricated, measured. Each prototype applies simple structure composed slotlines, lines, only one load, which all etched single-layered substrate. Measured results agree well synthetizations simulations. For absorber-I, measured 95.5% in frequency range 5.08 14.44GHz successfully realized. Absorber-II obtains FBW 111.1% 4.48 15.68GHz. Average ratios within operating higher than 93.8% for absorber-II, respectively. Besides, angularly stable 600 oblique incidence. Therefore, structures possess attractive potential effectively absorbing electromagnetic waves.
